About Us
Islandandspice.com is a quarterly magazine that explores the culinary state of the Caribbean diaspora. Each issue, we pick a topic that is near and dear to Caribbean identity and we ask chefs, cookbook authors and historians what their thoughts are about that subject. If we find enough substance that is new, unique and rarely discussed in the food space, we make that topic our theme.
Since launching in 2018, we have focused on subjects ranging from cooking with cannabis, to the disappearance of pink guavas, the religious practice of I-tal and looked into why there are so few rum recipes in circulation. We also provide a recipe so that readers can bring the issue into their own kitchens.
The publication is based in New York City. Our team of top-notch journalists is located around the world.
