COPY EDITORS
Island and Spice Magazine is looking for freelance copy editors to join our team. We are seeking freelance copy editors who are masters with words, grammar and fact-checking. This position will work closely with the managing editor to copy edit articles, recipes, newsletters and branded content. They will also assist in writing headlines, summaries and social media copy.
Five plus years of experience copy editing in an editorial role at a website, newspaper or magazine
Familiarity with Caribbean history, the region and the food is preferred but not necessary

SOCIAL MEDIA PRODUCERS
Are you an Instagram pro? Do you mess with Twitter every once in a while? Are you on top of all the hashtag-ery of the moment?
Island and Spice Magazine is hiring a team of freelance Social Media Producers to create fresh, quality and thought-provoking content for audiences on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
We’d like to round out our team with producers who can create content that is inline with the company’s goals for growth and reach. Producers will need to be comfortable with pitching ideas to the editorial team and open to receiving constructive feedback.
Demonstrated experience in Adobe tools like Premiere Pro, InDesign and Photoshop.
Must have great writing and communication skills
Must be able to work well independently
Proven skill producing social-first, cross-platform content using everything from videos, photos, infographics, motion graphics, gifs
Familiarity with Caribbean history, the region and the food is preferred but not necessary

Photographers
Island and Spice Magazine works with a team of freelance photographers and photojournalists to cover the Caribbean diaspora. Photographers work closely with the managing editor to create captivating and fresh images for our digital publication.
Photographers must have excellent communication skills and be able to work with the editorial team in order to understand, craft and execute a cohesive vision. Photographers must also have strong visual storytelling skills.
Demonstrated news judgment and photography experience
Five or more years in food photography
Eight+ years working with a news organization, magazine or online publication
Familiarity with Caribbean history, the region and the food is preferred but not necessary
