Krema

A liquid dessert to enjoy with a slice of cake on the side.

This drink is sweet, creamy and meant to be enjoyed in sips, maybe poured over ice or served neat in a whiskey glass. Think Bailey’s, but spiked with a kick of coconut.

“It’s a good dessert drink,” said Kimberly Jean-Pierre, who shared her family’s Haitian recipe with Island and Spice Magazine. “You take your time when you drink it, and you can have it with a good cake.”

Ms. Jean-Pierre, 36, tested positive for the coronavirus in March and shortly after found out she was pregnant. She’s thankful to be alive and looking forward to holding her newborn in November while sipping this drink on Thanksgiving Day.
